Control REF command in MS WORD form

I am making a MS WORD template with legacy forms for the office, all i want to do is use a checkbox to control the REF command.

I know how to make one textbox equal another using the

{REF Text1} method.

But what i want to do is use a checkbox within the document to contol if it is REF'd or not.

so far no luck, can anyone help me
