Integrating Mail Chimp with my web form [on hold]

I have a form hosted on my website and the data is saved into a MySQL database. Is it possible to integrate MailChimp (using the MailChimp API) into my website so an auto response email is sent to the user once they submit the form?

The purpose of the form is to retrieve some information for the user (i.e. name, email, phone number, etc.). This information is stored into my own MySQL database. I wanted to know if it is possible to use the Mail Chimp API to some how trigger an auto response from Mail Chimp without having to save the user data in Mail Chimp or using their sign up forms?
